Learning Support
At BHS, we recognize that traditional, neurotypical educational models do not allow all students to thrive. We see neurodiversity not as a deficit, but as a powerful and often untapped strength. With the right support, students are empowered to understand how they learn best, build self-advocacy skills, develop confidence, take ownership of their learning, and move beyond the feeling of “not fitting into a b box."
Learning Support Department
The Learning Support Department at BHS is composed of learning specialists who provide a comprehensive range of services designed to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of our diverse student body. Support is highly individualized and may include personalized learning plans, academic accommodations, small-group executive functioning support focused on skills such as organization and time management, small-group academic support for students with learning differences, and in-class interventions. To ensure holistic support, the Learning Support Department works closely with our Academic Deans to promote thoughtful integration into our school culture.
In collaboration with families, faculty, and our Social & Emotional Wellbeing counseling team, the Learning Support Department takes a holistic approach to student success. By strengthening self-awareness, resilience, and independence, we ensure that students are not only supported in the classroom, but also equipped with the skills they need to thrive beyond BHS and into life.
